Welcome to the Grande Ronde, this is a 3 or 4
day deluxe camping trip fly fishing for Rainbow trout.
Itís a 50 mile float beginning at Minim, which is
approximately 30 miles from LaGrande, Oregon and ending in
Troy, Oregon approximately 8 miles from the Oregon and
Our trip begins in the mountains at the confluence of the
Minim and Wallowa Rivers at the very small town of Minim. The
Grand Ronde is a beautiful free flowing river cutting itís way
through a deep canyon where it eventually flows into the Snake
River. The canyon is timbered in fir and ponderosa pines enter
spurts with large grassy meadows and flat benches that become
our camp siteís.
We begin our fishing day as we launch our drift boats and
ready our rods at 9:00 am, as we drift the river your guide
will steady the boat while you cast into the riffles and rocky
shore lines where the trout lay and wait. At noon weíll find a
beautiful bench where we will stop and prepare a deluxe shore
lunch, we remain here for about 2 hours, allowing your guide
to rest his arms and you to do some shore fishing or simply
sit back, relax and take in the beauty and serenity that the
Grand Ronde has to offer. After lunch we are back in the drift
boatís fishing our way down to our evenings camp site, Where
our camp will have been preset and awaiting our arrival, we
provide large spacious tents, cotís, shower, comfortable
lounge chairís and a bond fir where we all can exchange our
stories from the days fishing.
After you have made yourself at home in camp you can sit back
and relax while watching our guides prepare your evening meal,
which consists of Dutch oven baked breads, grilled meats,
fresh tossed salads, and a variety of fresh vegetables,
followed up by dessert. When you have completed you dessert
you may want to return to the camp fire to relive the days
eventís before turning in for the evening.
In the morning you will awake to the aroma of freshly brewed
coffee and our guides preparing a delicious hearty breakfast
that will prepare you for another full days fishing, site
seeing and a plain ole good time.
The best time to make this trip is the later part of June
through July. At this time the water levels are favorable for
floating and the trout are close to shore feeding on a variety
of fly hatches.
